About Us

The Johnsons Landing Tidal Waves is a neighborhood summer (May-June) only recreational swim team that competes against other neighborhood teams.

Daily practices begin in the afternoons during the last couple weeks of school at the Johnsons Landing subdivision pool and then shift to the morning once school is out. There will be dry lane practices planned for inclement weather days. We use the Remind app to communicate with families when practices or meets get cancelled/rescheduled. The season will involve time-trials, 2 home and 3 away meets and wrap up the last week of June. We compete against other East Cobb teams nearby.

The team is run 100% with volunteers. Each family is responsible for volunteering to work at the five swim meets. You will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer positions before each meet. Tidal Waves could not happen without parents helping, as it takes many volunteers to run multiple swim meets, prepare social activities, order gear, throw an end of season party and more! Any money raised ultimately goes back to our swimmers and parents by paying for coaching, pool equipment, social activities, t-shirts, medals, and everything else. This is what makes summer swim possible.

Who can join?

All Cobb County residents between 5-18 years old, as of May 31st are eligible to be on our swim team. Even year-round simmers who can't practice with us daily are eligible to be on the team. Little Tsunamis are for ages 3-5 years old. Tsunami lessons are swim lessons for kids that aren't old enough or ready to participate in the swim meets.

Cost

The cost of the first swimmer is $125, 2nd swimmer is $115, third swimmer is $70 with a family cap of $300. Little Tsunamis are $100. All 15-18 year old swimmers are $50. Registration fees are per child and include ribbons, team medal, instruction, a swimmer tshirt, and participation in five league meets.
